Governor Brown having clearly seen the issues related to SB750 (BMW key data exemption) has vetoed this bad anti-consumer, and anti-industry legislation. Although BMW had claimed this was simply about keys many of you in our industry could see through the smoke and realized this was just one more attempt for a manufacturer to expand its monopoly position in parts and service of their vehicles.

Thank you again Governor Brown, and also thanks go to the many more that helped defeat this legislation. BMW had pulled out all the stops in attempting to get this to pass but we were able to hold them off be it at the last moment.

This should remind us that we need to be on guard. More bad legislation like this will certainly be attempted. I will do my best to keep everyone informed.
